If.. would.. (Encyclopedia)

If I had to go and live on a desert island and could only take one book with me, the best kind of book to have would be an encyclopedia. I agree with the statement, because it can help providing much information about anything in any field with some explanations about the information. In addition, the information is easily to be understood. It can also be searched easily, because the contain is arranged well alphabetically.

First, it would help me to survive in the island, because I would know some foods provided in the island which is safe to eat. I would know some kinds of plants, leaves, stalks, fruits which are nutritious and not poisonous to eat, so I would not die in starvation there.

Then, the encyclopedia would help me to find a safe and secure place to live temporarily in the island. For example, I would know some places which wild animals do not usually come and places which have good weather. So, I would stay alive and probably wait for help.

Besides that, I would know some information about how to find a way to go home. If I bring a geographical encyclopedia, I would know how to find out the compass rose, so I will know the direction to a better place. Or I would try to make a help by creating symbols or smoke, so probably someone out there would notice and come for help.
